Hang Your Sunglasses on Your Visor with a Binder Clip

Gino De Sicco keeps his sunglasses at the ready:

I found out another utility for binder clips (as if they didn't had enough) and, since I've never seen this one on LH before, I thought I might show it to you guys.

Basically, it's a sunglass holder to be used inside your car. To mount it, get two of the big ones, insert them one against each other. One must be attached to the sun visor and the other one will stay free, so just hold your sunglasses in it. The image above should explain it well.

Replace Google's Discontinued SMS Service with IFTTT

Cecil Mathew finds a new way to edit his calendar with SMS:

Did you know that Google discontinued support of the GVENT SMS shortcode to quickly create GCal events? This "hack" was highlighted several times on Lifehacker, but now it's not available anymore. I used it often because it's easier than filling in several fields on a smartphone.

So, I created an IFTTT recipe to replace that functionality! Just send an SMS to the IFTTT number with the tag GCal (I used the tag because I use the IFTTT number for other things besides GCal event creation), and it works the same as the GVENT short code did. You can see the recipe I used here.

Create Your Own Impromptu Dryer Sheet with a Sponge and Fabric Softener

If you have some fabric softener around but prefer the static-removing dryer sheets (or if you just forgot to add your fabric softener in the washer), Sara Janovsky shows us how to make one out of a sponge:

Forgot the fabric softener when you washed? Combine 1 part fabric softener, 3 parts water, soak a sponge (clean, and not dripping wet), and add it to the dryer. Works like a Charm!

Get a Refrigerator In Your Hotel Room for Free

RobW74 shares a handy hotel hack:

If your room doesn't have a refrigerator and you call the front desk to request one, you're going to get charged a daily rate rental rate for it.

If you call the front desk and say you have medication you need to refrigerate, you'll get one for free.

This is really great if you actually do have medication you need to refrigerate. You could of course use this knowledge for more devious means, but that's up to you. Photo by Stan Dalone.
