The rumors that the football program at Mount Clemens High School was about to reach an untimely demise this year are apparently very much exaggerated.
Penn, who will once again be on the sidelines for the Bathers, is confident he will be able to field a team.
?I?ve had some of these kids for four years,? said Penn. ?They?ve put their heart and soul into Mount Clemens High School. This season is all about the kids.?
Penn was released from his duties as head varsity football coach in January. He was hired back in early July.
?If we have even 15 or 16 kids on the team, we?ll field a competitive team,? he said.
Practice begins Monday, Aug. 12, according to the Michigan High School Athletic Association.
