SHAH ALAM: A total of 6,000 job vacancies are up for grabs at the four-day ?Love Selangor Carnival? in i-City in Section 7 here.
Selangor Youth Council (MBS) president Datuk Imorhizam Ibrahim said the vacancies were offered through the Jobs Malaysia counters mounted by MBS with cooperation from 30 private and government-linked companies (GLC).
He said jobseekers, especially certificate and diploma holders, could take the opportunity to secure suitable jobs through the walk-in interviews held at the carnival.
?Those who are interested to fill the vacancies can come to the counters at i-City Digital Square, fill in the job application forms and be interviewed by the companies' representatives immediately,? he said yesterday.
Imorhizam said the results of the interviews would be made known to the applicants on the same day.
He said the response had been encouraging so far as 2,000 jobseekers had registered at the counters within the first two hours of the carnival.
Afiqah Yaacob, 25, from Shah Alam, said the Jobs Malaysia counters were very helpful in assisting certificate and diploma holders to find suitable jobs.
?I welcome the efforts and I hope more companies will take part in the future and offer jobs to graduates too because there are many degree holders here,? said Afiqah, who holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Mara.
M. Tamilmoha, 27, who applied for a job with four companies, said he was confident of being hired.
On another development, Imorhizam said over 2,000 youths participated in the ?Peace Run for Gaza?, aimed at raising funds to help the Palestinians in Gaza, in conjunction with the opening of the carnival.
He said a donation box had also been placed at the Aman Palestin counter to enable visitors to play their part in helping the Palestinians. - Bernama
